Known for its innovative seasonal tasting menus, SEM collaborates with local producers and employs fermentation and preservation techniques to craft unforgettable dining experiences.
SEM approached us for a complete redesign and build of their website. As a highly creative and unique restaurant, it was vital that the site mirrored their distinctiveness while providing an engaging user experience. With a rich collection of exquisite photography, our challenge was to develop inventive layouts and animations to showcase their artistry and vision.
What We Delivered
- Creative Design: Using Figma, we designed a visually striking website with a dark artboard that contrasted beautifully with the brand’s signature orange. This design choice emphasised key elements such as booking options and call-to-action links.
- Brand Storytelling: Large call-out quotes were incorporated to spotlight SEM’s core messages and philosophy, reinforcing their position as a thought leader in sustainable gastronomy.
- Advanced Animations: The website was developed in Webflow, leveraging its CMS capabilities and design versatility. For an added touch of sophistication, we used the GSAP library to create distinctive typography animations, enhancing the overall aesthetic and user engagement.
Achievements Since Launch
Since the launch of the website, SEM has continued to make waves in the culinary world. Chef George was awarded One Knife at the Best Chef Awards Gala in Dubai, a prestigious honour that makes him only the second New Zealand chef to receive this recognition.

The redesigned website not only reflects the artistry and innovation of SEM Restaurant & Wine Bar but also serves as a powerful platform for sharing their mission of sustainability and creativity. The site continues to attract discerning diners while supporting SEM’s position as a leader in the zero-waste fine dining movement.
